EventCity appoints new centre director

Peel Leisure's new exhibition centre at The Trafford Centre, EventCity, has announced the appointment of Andy Orr as Centre Director. Orr, 46, comes from a strong leisure background, having held management roles at the Apollo Manchester, Manchester 235 and a previous role within Peel Holdings Group.

Peel Leisure's new venture has already attracted widespread interest from across UK exhibition industry, particularly with show organisers seeking alternative venues and realising the benefits on offer at EventCity.

Andy Orr said 'when you consider our location, free parking and versatility of space we have a unique product.  Although we have only officially been open since March, we already have confirmed bookings through to 2014.    Looking ahead, our objective is to meet the challenge of positioning EventCity as the premier venue for public and private events in the North of England'.

Orr's primary responsibility is implementation of strategic direction at the new venue, and general operational management.  The venue is rapidly building a portfolio of popular consumer and trade exhibitions with the objective of delivering around 50 events per annum.
