Theme 4 - Industrial Heritage

As birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester makes an ideal location for a fine historical incentive trip with a difference.

Day 1
What better way to arrive in Manchester than on the Orient Express Northern Belle? Chartered specially for you, the train can depart from a wide range of UK mainline stations and transport you in rich mahogany carriages to Manchester Victoria Station. As you step off the train you can be greeted by a traditional brass band playing a selection of classic Manchester tunes.

The short journey to the five star Radisson Edwardian Hotel is made by traditional open top Routemaster bus allowing you to take your first glimpse of the rich architectural history of Manchester's compact city centre.

After settling into your relaxing suite, join the rest of the party in the revered Hallé Hall - the Radisson Edwardian's spectacular ballroom and site of the historic Free Trade Hall. Sons as diverse as Disraeli, Livingstone and Dickens have all delivered speeches here but tonight savour a classical performance by the renowned Hallé Orchestra as you and your fellow diners enjoy a spectacular welcome dinner.

Day 2
Step aboard your luxury coach for a scenic drive to the fringes of the UK's first National Park - the Peak District. Upon arrival at Lyme Park you will discover a magnificent estate; its wild remoteness and powerful beauty contrast with one of the most famous country house images in England - the backdrop to where Darcy meets Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice. After coffee and home made shortbread take time to explore the house at leisure and find out why this is one of Britain's favourite stately homes.

A light lunch of local produce will set you up for an afternoon on the estate where you will be able to participate in a range of classic sports such as fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting, or for the more adventurous, a quad safari around the estate is on offer.

Heading back into the city centre you will be treated to a pint of well earned local ale on board a traditional narrow boat. Enjoy the short cruise from the Castlefield canal basin to a convenient mooring point steps away from the Radisson Edwardian where a refreshing dip in the hotel's spectacular black swimming pool will set you up for the evening.

After you have had time to refresh we will take a short stroll to the recently extended and refurbished Manchester Art Gallery for a private viewing of the latest touring exhibition and a sumptuous dinner served in the spectacular glass atrium.

Day 3
The Radisson Edwardian's Pennine Suite makes the ideal location for a chef master class. Here, the hotel's experienced kitchen brigade will show you how to create a traditional British breakfast. And being on the 14th floor of the hotel the view whist you cook over the city centre will be amazing.

Fuelled for the day, you will be met by an informative Manchester Blue Badge Guide who will expertly lead you on radical walking tour of the compact city centre. You will discover Manchester's rich industrial heritage and learn how it came to earn the title as the Original Modern city.

After a morning's exertion you will have worked up an appetite for a traditional British roast dinner and Manchester Town Hall makes the perfect backdrop in which to indulge in this treat.

Later take time to explore Manchester at your own leisure, stock up on souvenirs or check out a wide-range of free city centre attractions.

Our final evening in Manchester will be spent at MOSI. Home to the world's first passenger railway station, this Manchester institution explores how Manchester came to be the world's first industrialised city. Enjoy a spectacular gala dinner in the Power Hall where the steam powered wheels of industry will provide a spectacular environment for dinner and some fine Mancunian music.

Rounding off the day, a nightcap at Cloud23 - Manchester's most exclusive bar - is just the ticket. Located on the 23rd Floor of Europe's tallest residential building you will have a fine vantage point to view the dramatic cityscape and reflect on the day's activities.

Day 4
Enjoy a lazy morning and breakfast in bed before one final treat. Let your hosts take care of your luggage as you check out of Radisson Edwardian Hotel and make the short journey by executive car to the Wheel of Manchester. Towering above Exchange Square a 'flight' in the VIP cabin will allow you to take in some final views of the city and the Pennine Hills.

Manchester Cathedral, adjacent to the Wheel of Manchester provides a convenient and tranquil setting for you to meet other members of the group and enjoy a relaxed lunch in the stunning setting of the medieval nave. Manchester Victoria Station, just a few steps from the Cathedral provides a convenient departure point for your specially chattered Pullman train to take you on to your next destination.
