The reduction of energy demand from the existing stock of buildings has been identified as a core part of UK and EU energy policy. As a high-level research, economic and policy question it brings together many disciplines in addressing a pressing real world problem. This unique conference brings together over 500 delegates from academia, industry and government to discuss these issues development. The goal of Retrofit 2012 is to discuss how this problem may be best addressed along with the key current and emerging research questions and findings. Conference themes will include: Policy and Regulation Models, Performance and Evaluation Communities, People and Behaviours Technology and Materials Production, Process and Supply Chain Skills, Jobs and Economic Development

Transport

The Lowry's waterfront location is just outside of Manchester city centre, in Salford Quays. With public transport links including a convenient tram stop and car parking opposite, getting to Retrofit 2012 couldn't be easier.

  • Metrolink

    From national railway stations, Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria you can travel to The Lowry by Metrolink tram. You can board an Eccles line tram and should alight at Harbour City, or Media City UK for trams which stop there, as this is slightly closer.

  • Train

    Manchester is well connected and with direct train connections to all major UK cities. Trains come into Piccadilly or Victoria station, both of which connect to the Metrolink which provides easy access to The Lowry.
